"Sister Angelica"

Premiere Performance of Opera/Music Theatre this Fall

October 12-21, 2000, a group of dedicated vocalists performed Giacomo Puccini's "Sister Angelica."  This was a monumental event because it marked the inauguration of the new opera/musical theater track at Rutgers - Camden.  With the exception of Lauren Montenegro (Sister Genevieve) and Idelle Nissila Stone (Sister Angelica), members of the cast were students of Rutgers Camden

Professor Martin Dillon (tenor) directed the production while Pasquale Montenegro served as musical director.  The exceptional set, intricate lighting, and suitable costumes moved members of the audience back to a convent in the 1600s.  The combination of hard work and talent resulted in a wonderful performance of Puccini's famous opera.

Look forward to seeing "Man of La Mancha" in Spring 2001.
