Gary Miller started with the Department of Fine Arts as Production Manager in February of 2016. He has since taken over as Theater Technical Supervisor for all events and DFA productions in the Gordon and Black Box Theaters. Gary has over 15 years of experience in the concert and theater industries. His career started in St. Louis as an audio/video engineer for the Touhill Performing Arts Center, which housed touring Broadway shows, major rock concerts, and touring classical music performances. His first major theatrical tour was in 2004 with the Moscow Ballet. He later toured with several NYC based dance companies such as Broadway choreographers David Dorfmann and Bill T. Jones.
He continues to tour on and off with Indian dancer Shantala Shivalingappa out of Paris, and her musicians from Chennai, India. Before moving to the east coast, he worked as an acoustical engineer and designer with Engineering Dynamics then moved east to run the audio/video department for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts. Gary started his production management career in 2010 at Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center in New York, and later went on to run The Prince Theater in Philadelphia, and Lindenwood University’s Performing Arts Center in St. Louis where he was also Resident Audio Designer and teacher of Audio/Video Design & Technology. In addition to his current role at Rutgers-Camden, he is a freelance designer and audio/video engineer.
